On a rolling basis, Vox Populi accepts applications for the following:

  • Philadelphia-based artist members who collectively run the organization
  • Gallery-wide curated exhibitions
  • Events and rentals
  • Internships

Artist Memberships

Vox accepts membership applications each fall through an annual open call, please check back to complete a submission.

Vox Populi is a member-run artist collective. Member artists mount a solo exhibition each 15 months and are eligible to participate in group and traveling exhibitions. During these exhibitions, members are encouraged to take risks and experiment while working in a non-commercial and supportive collective environment.

Members also have the chance to curate shows and organize educational and related programming. Membership is open to any artist living in the Philadelphia area, but limited to those who do not have commercial gallery representation and who are not current students. Members participate in all aspects of the gallery’s administration and programming. We are also open to applications by people who do not consider themselves visual artists: performers, curators, or writers who may take on a slightly different role within the organization. Tell us in your application how you might participate!

There is a one-time initiation fee of $100.00 for new members; monthly dues are $55.00. Members are required to staff the gallery 4 hours each month and attend monthly meetings.

Please visit our SlideRoom page for an application.

Applications are reviewed by the artist-membership of Vox Populi. Mailed or emailed submissions will not be reviewed.

Guest Artist Exhibitions

Vox is not accepting applications for guest artists now. Please check back in Fall 2015.

Vox Populi offers artists living outside of the Philadelphia area the opportunity to extend and challenge their artistic development and exposure to new audiences. Proposals for solo exhibitions will be considered for one month long exhibitions. Vox Populi is particularly interested in offering exhibitions to artists who work in experimental materials and/or employ alternative methodologies, whose work is less likely to be shown in a commercial setting. Guest artists will receive an honorarium of $500 but will be expected to arrange for their installation and deinstallation. Artists will show in one of Vox Populi’s four gallery spaces and will be grouped with other artists by Vox Populi’s artist membership. A floor plan is available here.

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES

Visit our SlideRoom page for details. Application fee is $20, which helps cover SlideRoom fees.

Curatorial Opportunities

Curators committed to developing and expanding their practice are invited to submit proposals for a gallery-wide exhibition each exhibition cycle. A publication created by the curator will also be produced.
