Please join us Friday, May 1st from 6:00-10:00pm for the opening of this month’s exhibitions, on view through May 31st. So Go the Humans, Timothy Belknap’s first solo exhibition at Vox Populi is a composed installation of human/animal marionettes that are animated into movements that Belknap has qualified as iconic human gestures. Kelsey Halliday Johnson’s exhibition, A spy in the house of life., explores the nature of human perception through a lens-based medium. Ben Will’s second solo exhibition at Vox, Head, is an exploration of body and mass. Leah Modigliani’s exhibition, April 27, 1972, University of Pennsylvania, rebuilds and reimagines one of the entrance barricades erected by students protesting the continuation of the Vietnam War. At Fourth Wall, J. Louise Makary presents This is Where Wool Comes From, which uses the visuals of a sheep shearing to touch on the narratives of dominance, empathy, and passivity.

This month we are pleased to continue our programming for “Call of the WIld: Pioneers, Rebels, and Heroines” presented by our 5th AUX Curatorial Fellow Katya Grokhovsky. On May 10th we will host legendary performance artist Martha Wilson in conversation with Amy Sadao of the ICA.

For detailed information on these exhibitions, artists, and for all auxiliary programming dates, visit our website.

First Fridays at Vox Populi are generously supported by the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation.
