We are pleased to share and feature three of Rachel Maclean’s videos exclusively at their full length for the audience at Aux Performance Space.

Rachel Maclean’s videos amplify the grotesque using a kaleidoscope of color in backdrops consisting of hyper-kitsch realities. The videos selected for viewing at Aux Performance Space feature the artist playing all the roles within her films. They also highlight Maclean’s interest in popular culture through her practice of dubbing in lieu of script sourced from movies, television and the Internet. The dubbed soundtracks paired with the artists’ scattered personas, costuming and green screen imaging demonstrate the honed craft of collaging within Maclean’s films. Rachel Maclean’s work has been compared to artists Cindy Sherman, Mike Kelley, Leigh Bowery, Lisa Frank and Paul McCarthy.
