Opening Reception: Buenas Vibras, Olive B. Godlee, Sharon Koelblinger, Abigail Lucien, Lane Speidel and Jim Strong

Opening at Vox Populi on Friday, September 7, 2018 from 6-10pm are five new exhibitions, including solo shows by Sharon Koelblinger, Abigail Lucien, Lane Speidel and Jim Strong, as well as Buenas Vibras: A Celebration of LGBTQ+ Latinx Artists, the third annual En Comunidad Exhibition curated by Wit López.

In addition, as part of Vox Populi’s ongoing 4th Wall series dedicated to supporting film and video works by emerging artists, the gallery will be screening a new video by Olive B. Godlee in September.

During September’s First Friday Opening Reception, close friends Lane Speidel and Bobbi Salvor Menuez will lounge in Lane’s exhibition on sculptures in costumes, spending time together as one tattoos the other’s butt.

Following the opening, join us for Mutual Irradiation: Troll Meeting with Molly Colleen O’Connell at 10pm in Blackbox! This post-opening after party performance is the first event of Jim Strong‘s new programming platform, Mutual Irradiation.

The season of exhibitions will be complimented by a gallery talk on Sunday, October 7 at 3pm, moderated by writer, performer and historian Wesley Flash.
