About the Line-Up
Pedazo de Carne con Ojo: Philly-based musician and poet Steven Perez, otherwise known as Pedazo de Carne con Ojo, speaks his own language. Borrowing from the lexicons of pop and experimental music, Perez’s productions sample everything from bachata to shoegaze to create a unique sonic dialect on record. Since his first release under the moniker in 2019, his music has been featured on Pitchfork, KCRW’s Private Playlist, Dublab and NTS Radio.
Flung: As Flung, Oakland-based multi-instrumentalist Kashika Kollaikal creates blurry channels for feeling. Kollaikal finds motion in stillness and stillness in motion, weaving together hard-hitting polyrhythms and glitchy samples into music that is at once both danceable and meditative. Flung’s second LP, Apricot Angel, is out 8/19 via Citrus City. Kollaikal also plays as half of the duo Honey Oat.
Ishtar Sr: Savan DePaul (they/them, she/her), who also goes by the future pop moniker Ishtar Sr., is a West Philadelphian musician/producer/visual artist. DePaul tackles every style under the sun from abstract hip hop polemics to futuristic R&B/dance pop anthems to noisy lo-fi excursions with punkish tinge. Savan’s music carries a sci-fi/mythological bend and nestles various odes to Blackness, sexual autonomy, queer acceptance, and self reflection.

Please note that Vox Populi is located on the third floor of a historic warehouse building at 319 N. 11th Street and that there are five steps leading from the street-level to the first-floor landing where the passenger elevator picks-up/drops-off.
