Garbage World is a performance series that began in Chicago during 2009, and developed over the course of a year with four events. Garbage World 4 was a three day festival with twenty-four performances. It is now re-beginning in Philadelphia after a two year hiatus. This fifth iteration features visiting Chicago artists Jose Hernandez and Sofia Moreno.
In seeking artists, Garbage World focuses on those who are committed to an intentional use of the body and self as their primary medium. Video is included in this iteration of Garbage World because of the way it can alter/edit the body and present private/dangerous situations in a public context.

EILEEN LILLIAN DOYLE
Eileen Lillian Doyle began Garbage World from the urge to see artists perform in a situation with more allowances than limitations. Messes, grotesqueness, cleanliness, and joy happen in life; therefore, they are not excluded from this event.
