Join Waste Management Records for a record release show in celebration of two new albums: Tristan Dahn’s Housekeeping and Cyrus Gengras’s Good God with support from the Philly-based duo Flor De Lux.
Participating Artists
Tristan Dahn is a Philadelphia, PA based multi-instrumentalist and improvisor. His debut LP, Housekeeping, is “a work of stylistic distinctiveness and uncanny emotional resonance.”
During the peak of COVID lockdown in the summer of 2020 and shortly after his mother succumbed to cancer, Philadelphia-based multi-instrumentalist Tristan Dahn decamped to Cazenovia, a rural town near Syracuse, New York, to sort through his late parent’s house, where he and his brother spent their formative years as children.Dealing with the profound grief of losing a parent, Dahn used the instruments and objects he and his brother had left in the home over the years to create this singular LP. Cyrus Gengras, CEO at Waste Management music, has released three albums. 2016’s “Fuckin’ up My Name” 2018’s “Sight Unseen” and 2020’s “Love Never Dies”. He also plays in the Los Angeles based Rock n’ Roll outfit Street Fruit.
“Good God” can be said as a curse of frustration, an exasperated shock or as a meditation of acceptance. Gengras fills the songs with the characters he’s encountered through his life and what he’s learned from all of them. From the haunting words of the fellow addicts he met on his arduous path to sobriety (“1970 Something”, “Deal”) to a nuanced portrait of his beloved but troubled father, who passed away in 2016 (“Leatherman”) to an elegy for David Berman (“Somebody’s Calling”), who Gengras got to know in the final days of the poet’s life, Good God finds Gengras as a reporter, writing on the joy and wreckage of life. Flor de Lux is a synthpop duo making genre-bending dance music that evokes all the thoughts you haven’t spoken out loud or weren’t ready to confront within yourself. And you’ll dance while doing it. More info: Flor de Lux
