Join Kimya Imani Jackson for a Shaking and Tea workshop and performance. In this workshop, participants will be asked to draw how they feel when they enter into the room, be lead into a shaking exercise with a cool down, and then the participants will drink hot tea. As participants are drinking hot tea, Kimya will perform a performance in silence based
on things that have emerged during her shaking practice and Deep Listening learnings.
The performance will be followed by a Group Improvisation with Kimya Imani Jackson, Mickey O’ Hara, ARKM Foam and Jim Strong.
Kimya Imani Jackson is a dancer, performance artist, doctoral trained Bio-behavioral scientist, trained Reiki II provider, and Pochinko clown based in Philadelphia, PA. She is fascinated by the magic of the mundane- the extraordinary in the ordinary.
Massachusetts-based musicians ARKM Foam & Mickey O’Hara use tape, DSP, sound placement and sample collage to make sound art based on a language they’ve stumbled upon together. The sounds they use are informed by their long stints as performers and organizers in the New England experimental scene. Movement and listening complement and eclipse one another.
This performance is curated by Jim Strong in conjunction with his exhibition Flight of Fancy and will take place within the gallery.
Mutual Irradiation is an interdisciplinary performance and lecture series initiated by Jim Strong exploring the intersection of the arts, spirituality, science and activism.
