ABOUT THE EVENT
Join us for October First Friday (Friday, October 4th, 2019) from 6-10pm to celebrate our current exhibitions by The Institute of Queer Ecology, Yaloo, Levi Bentley, Maddie Hewitt, Chloé Rossetti and LifeLines: Voices Against the Other Death Penalty.
As part of her exhibition, Turning To Nurture, Maddie Hewitt will perform in her gallery at 9pm with an ambient sound installation generated from the weather outside. Treating the piece as an acoustic instrument, Hewitt moves her hands and body over the amplified piece to create an atonal soundscape vacillating between natural and synthetic. The performance will accompany the videos in the space, affecting both the soundscape and visual atmosphere of the exhibition.
Stick around after 10pm for Impulse Response Test Series: Akiyama(jp) & Krausbauer and Bill Nace. The Impulse Response Test Series is an amorphous experimental music program for musicians, movement-based performers, and sound artists surviving beyond the membrane of convention.
