PROMISES
A night of performances by Millie Kapp, Alexandra Tatarsky & Georgia Wall who promise to provide embodied investigations on themes including but not limited to dyslexia, death and dissonance.

BIOS:

MILLIE KAPP is a New York-based performer and choreographer. In 2013, she graduated with an MA in Performance Studies from NYU and completed her undergraduate degree in 2010 with a BA in Visual and Critical Studies from School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Kapp has presented her performance work in Oakland, Toronto, Montreal, Minneapolis, Philadelphia, Chicago and New York. She’s been an artist-in-residence at the Elizabeth Foundation, Chez Bushwick, the Chicago Cultural Center, Vermont Studio Center as well as Link & Pin in Montreal. Most recently, she’s presented her performances in New York at Center for Performance Research, La MaMa and Roulette among other places.

ALEXANDRA TATARSKY is a writer and performer from New York City. Called “endlessly entertaining” by NY Theatre and “frantic, kinetic, manic and mesmerizing” by Theatre Jones, her original solo shows Beast of Festive Skin and SIGN FELT! premiered at La Mama ETC and have toured theaters, galleries and living rooms throughout the country. Tatarsky was a member of X-ID Rep at the New Museum, an ensemble devoted to investigating the ethics of intercultural cross-play. She has written on spambot lyricism and Russian-Jewish poetics for The New Inquiry, Hypocrite Reader, Calvert Journal, Emerald Tablet, and the Reed College Erotic Review. She was famous for two days as Andy Kaufman’s daughter and often performs as a mound of dirt. Alexandra Tatarsky is a 2016 Movement Research artist-in-residence. www.tar-tar.biz

GEORGIA WALL is an artist based in New York City. Wall’s video have been exhibited at Document Space, Faena Art Center, Anthology Film Archives, Spectacle Theater and Flux Factory. In New York she has presented her performance work at New York Live Arts, HERE, US Blues, Dixon Place, Movement Research at Judson Church, Ortega y Gasset Projects and CATCH at The Invisible Dog. Her work has been written about in publications including, Hemispheric Institute E-Misférica, Time Out Chicago and Dossier Journal. Wall also has a curatorial practice and is part of Bottom which has organized events at Abrons Art Center, Spectacle Theater, Glasshouse Projects and Essex Flowers. Wall has been a resident artist at The Joan Mitchell Center, New York Live Arts, Fondazione Antonio Ratti and ACRE, among others. In the winter of 2017 Wall will be a resident at Virginia Center for the Creative Arts and will be part of a group show at Team Gallery in Manhattan.
