The Silence will be shared in a manner loosely modeled on the Quaker tradition in which there is no overarching method or context except to hold a space in which the earnestness of your attention allows those around you to move deeper into their own experience in the moment, and vice versa, as Simone Weill put it, “Absolute attention is prayer”. As is true in Quaker meetings, if one feels a particularly unusual sense that they have a message to share with the group they are welcome to.
The Silence will be followed by a performance by Jessica Rosen, an interdisciplinary artist from the USA based in Mexico City working with performance and experimental sound. Her research combines meditation and energetic channeling to create immersive sound journeys that facilitate sensorial connections to extra-physical dimensions. She has an MFA from California College of the Arts (2008) and has worked with internationally with institutions such as The National Institute of Fine Arts, LAA (Mexico City), CMMAS (Morelia, MX), Festival de Musica Estranha (Sao Paulo) and The Winnipeg New Music Festival (Canada).
