Join us on Saturday, October 15, 2022 from 6:30-8:30pm for a poetry reading in celebration of the launch of Anuradha Bhowmik’s Brown Girl Chromatography, winner of the Agnes Lynch Starrett Poetry Prize from Pitt Press. Anuradha will be joined by two other local poets: Connie Yu and Stephanie Cawley.

About the Artist

Anuradha Bhowmik is a Bangladeshi-American poet and writer from South Jersey. She is the 2021 winner of the Agnes Lynch Starrett Poetry Prize for her first collection Brown Girl Chromatography (Pitt Poetry Series, September 2022). Bhowmik is a 2022 Kundiman Fellow and a 2018 AWP Intro Journals Project Winner in Poetry. She earned her MFA from Virginia Tech. Her poetry and prose have appeared in POETRY, The Sun, Quarterly West, Nashville Review, Indiana Review, The Offing, Bayou Magazine, Crab Orchard Review, Zone 3, The Normal School, Copper Nickel, Salt Hill, and elsewhere.

Connie Yu practices writing, printing, and cooking in Philadelphia. They curate, edit, and publish work by/for queer Asian artists and writers through FORTUNE/Many Folds Press, and facilitate local art and performance productions to tune skills, build resources, share joy.

Stephanie Cawley is a poet in Philadelphia. They are the author of My Heart But Not My Heart, winner of the Slope Book Prize chosen by Solmaz Sharif, and the chapbook A Wilderness from Gazing Grain Press. Their poems and other writing appear in Prolit, The Fanzine, TYPO, Peach, and West Branch, among other places.
