Vox Populi at Common Field Convening 2019
4/25 Kick-Off Celebration | 4/26 Gallery Opening | 4/28 Walking Tour

We are proud to announce our partnership with Common Field – a national network of experimental, independent, visual arts organizations and organizers – to bring the annual Convening to Philadelphia from April 25 – 28, 2019.

The Common Field Convening is an itinerant gathering that brings together 500+ local and national arts organizers to explore the state of the field of artists organizations and to share resources, knowledge and methods for artist-led, artist-ran and artist-centered projects, spaces and practices.

On Friday, April 26 from 6-10pm, we will be hosting a special opening ON-SITE here at Vox for our 30th Anniversary exhibition, Just In Time: 30 Years of Collective Practice.

On Sunday, April 28 from 11:30am-2pm we will be participating in Tracing the Boundary: Chinatown North Walking Tour, a walking tour that invites participants to discuss audiences that are included and excluded by real-estate and city boundaries, and consider how invisible boundaries shape the future of urban neighborhoods.

Meet at Asian Arts Initiative at 11:30AM for light refreshments before departing for this guided tour led by David Kyu, Neighborhood Programs Manager of Asian Arts Initiative, from 12-2PM. Join the art spaces of Callowhill/Chinatown North for a walking tour that will trace the proposed boundaries of recent Business Improvement District proposals. This walking tour invites participants to discuss audiences that are included and excluded by these boundaries, and consider how invisible boundaries shape the future of urban neighborhoods. The tour will conclude with a visit to the historic Rollins Building, 319 N 11th Street, which houses several artist-run galleries.

Presented in partnership with Asian Arts Initiative and Grizzly Grizzly.
