Please join us for an evening of performance featuring Beth Heinly, Cory Kram, Emma Branson, Sonia Petruse & Tara White. Each performer imbues an adherent comedic formula that is in reproach with the audience. In all seriousness, we are expressing ourselves, identity and the culture which permeates. You may want to laugh. Expect karaoke, pantomime and child’s play.
Beth Heinly presents a performance which caters to party entertainment, dressed as a clown, tempting to reveal the dark and sacred with its’ audience all while singing along to Bryan Adam’s “I Do It For You”.
Cory Kram presents Gumby At Play. What is Gumby? Who is Gumby? Why is Gumby? And why are we? These are just a few of the questions Cory Kram attempts to answer with her incisive Gumby (At) performances which took shape (pun intended) after she found a discarded Gumby costume in the trash. Past performances, highlighting the painful emotions hidden behind a cheery, green façade, have included Gumby at Work and Gumby at Home. Cory will conclude the trilogy with a performance entitled Gumby at Play, a “claymation transformation” that explores rebirth and “relaxation” in a world of turmoil.
Emma Branson presents Social interaction as Advertisement. History vs Fanfiction. Emma Branson’s work addresses screen culture’s relationship to creative expression, historic material re-presentation, social organization, and propagated value norms.
Tara White presents Class, a reenactment of high school Driver’s Ed where the classroom is embellished through memory, fantasy and role play.
Sonia Petruse presents Sonia as Ryan as Drag. Equal parts fandom & dragspiration, Sonia Petruse presents her debut drag performance as Ryan Adams. Adams (singer/songwriter/cat person/pinball enthusiast) has served as her main inspiration in art, style, blogging (see Adams’ late blog “Foggy” circa 2008) and overall lifestyle. The performance will mesh moments from his musical & personal chronology, and will also feature photos of Petruse as Adams around Philadelphia, in homage of his iconic shots in NYC, LA and on tour.
