Centennial
October 2 - November 1, 2009

Centennial is an exploration of the contemporary American political and social landscape, 100 years after the historian Frederick Jackson Turner famously declared the “closing of the American frontier.” A new large woodblock print mural entirely covers two walls in the gallery. It acts as a vacant mise-en-scène that once possessed the expansive hope of the American frontier. On the opposite two walls, a series of smaller print/collage/drawings loaded with content from the lost hope and aspirations of the ‘American Century’ will be displayed.
