Wes Heiss
Chariot
October 5 - 28, 2012

?With Chariot Wes Heiss channels the still palpable sense of paranoia that infiltrates post-September 11th America and presents a cynical and yet strangely viable product for the commercial airline industry. Appearing as a trade show exhibit complete with prototypes, graphics and a promotional video, the darkly funny and dry installation highlights the disparity of class that has plagued certain modes of transportation since the days of the Titanic.

Wes Heiss is a visual artist and designer whose work explores humanity’s relationship with technology. His work has been exhibited internationally at such venues as DiverseWorks in Houston, BAM in New York, and Kulturmöllan in Lövestad, Sweden. He has won an Artadia grant, a PCA Grant, and residencies at the MacDowell Colony, Skowhegan, the Roswell AIR Program and the Bemis Center. Wes received a Master of Architecture from Rice University and a BA from Bennington College. He is an Assistant Professor at Lehigh University and lives in Allentown, PA with his wife, artist Angela Fraleigh and their daughter Tuesday.
