How does the body exist as an intermediary between the physical world and mystical experience?
In the City, You Forget to Look at the Sky invites viewers to oscillate between these two spaces as they navigate the exhibition. Photographs evoke obscure human narratives that are triggered by fragmented figures that both actively manipulate and are directed by optical phenomena. Thought, sensation, and nuance are foregrounded through image but the traditional frame is restructured to inhibit overt sentimentality. These redesigned frames intertwine the viewer’s own physical presence with their perception of the photographs. The rules of engagement are re-established and the pleasure of looking is jostled.
