Embryo IX, part-1
Presented by Shanina Dionna
Saturday, March 7, 2020 | 6-9pm
Since 2011, Shanina Dionna‘s Embryo mental health & wellness art exhibition series has offered audiences the opportunity to experience the founding artist’s annual “safe space.” Guests are invited to engage in honest dialogue and firmly address the state of communal behavioral health. Through partnerships with local wellness communities and businesses, Embryo aims to continue helping to educate and humanize what it means to live with mental health.
Solution-based art installations chronicle the life of one millennial of color as she exposes and learns from her own mental health and wellness journey; helping to relieve the stigma and taboo yet plaguing our communities. This advocacy work is conveyed via the visual and performing arts (acrylic portraits, movement and improv, live music performances, an intentional playlist; and additionally, botanical therapy & vegan catering).
