No Face Performance Group presents Spaceplay

Turning their normally frenetic energy into a focused exploration of stillness, space, and isolation, Philly-based ensemble No Face Performance Group will premiere Spaceplay this fall at AUX Performance Space. The piece revolves around three crew-members on a spaceship bound for an undisclosed destination. Possibly off course, possibly stranded, with failing equipment and wavering faith in each other, they turn to hazy memories of their elusive cosmic guru to throttle their doubt and fear. Along the way, secrets are kept, suspicions mount, and the cold steel of their ship moves ever forward. Watch the trailer! In addition to creating and producing their own work in and around Philadelphia, the company spent the summer of 2010 to the fall of 2011 apprenticing with Pig Iron Theatre Company as actors, puppeteers, designers, and assistant directors. No Face’s work has been presented at venues in Philadelphia including NOSPACE, The Painted Bride Art Center, Plays & Players Theater, Space 1026, and Vox Populi gallery. The group’s work has also been seen at venues outside Philadelphia, including The 4th Street Theater (Manhattan, NY), The Collapsible Hole (Brooklyn, NY), The Birdhouse (Knoxville, TN), The Aquarium Gallery (New Orleans, LA), The Annex Theater (Baltimore, MD), the Bryant Lake Bowl (Minneapolis, MN), and the Den Theatre (Chicago, IL). This performance marks the start of a partnership between No Face Performance Group and AUX performance space, which will culminate in the premiere of No Face’s next full-length piece From the Swamp to the Stars, presented as part of the Philadelphia International Festival of the Arts 2013.
