About the $99 Sale Open Call

Vox Populi is now accepting submissions for our juried exhibition and fundraiser, The $99 Sale, from now until October 7th. We are asking local Philadelphia artists (within 90 miles of the city) to donate work measuring 8” x10” to be shown and sold at Vox Populi from November 4th to December 18th. All proceeds will be donated to Vox Populi to support programming and operations.

The $99 Sale is an anti-auction that levels the playing field for both artists and collectors. All artworks will be the same size, and all priced at $99. Artist names will be revealed only after purchase.

If you are interested in submitting work to donate, all pieces in The $99 Sale must measure 8″ x 10″. Artworks can range widely, including but not limited to paintings, drawings, photographs, monoprints, sketches, sculptures or conceptual pieces. Please sign only the back/underside of the piece, or leave the piece nameless. All works should be delivered to Vox Populi unframed (unless the frame is part of the piece).

In addition to having your artwork featured in the 6-week exhibition among local and national artists, all contributors will be featured on our website and social media platforms, get a free ticket to The $99 Sale opening event, and be connected with local collectors.

For over thirty years, Vox Populi has provided space and resources to hundreds of local and national artists through our exhibitions, performances, and other events. Vox is run by a collective of volunteer member artists, who work tirelessly with our Executive Director to program and operate our space. All of the money raised through this exhibition will be poured right back into tangible efforts to support and showcase the Philadelphia arts community: from artist honorariums and programming costs, to maintenance and facilities, to our monthly First Friday events.

All accepted artworks will be donated to Vox Populi for sale, with the proceeds going to Vox Populi. Submission to this open call is free. Selected artists will be informed by October 17th. Artwork drop off days will be between October 24th- 27th. Any works not sold will be available to pick up at Vox Populi after Dec. 18th.

Please note that this is an unpaid exhibition opportunity and that Vox is unable to cover costs of shipping/transportation of your artwork to/from the venue for this exhibition.

This exhibition is inspired by a long-standing event at the former Soap Factory Gallery in Minneapolis.
