Are you an artist, curator, or organization interested to produce an exhibition of film/video-based artwork? Apply to our Open Call for 4th Wall Film & Video Exhibitions by Thursday, December 8, 2021!
Alongside our visual art gallery exhibitions, Vox Populi exhibits film/video work on-loop throughout the day within our 1000 sq.ft. Black Box time-based media gallery. Artists are given creative power to configure the space based on available technologies: multiple high-def digital projects, surround-sound audio system, additional speakers as needed, and multiple tv monitors / media players.
While our primary film/video projection wall measures 14ft. wide x 7.5ft. tall, there are four walls in the space that can be designed to your will and vision (i.e. you are invited to install additional monitors, speakers, and/or projection screens/surfaces to meet the needs of your project). Work will be displayed during all open gallery hours.
We are looking to fill two exhibition windows: Feb 4 – March 13, 2022, and April 1 – May 8, 2022. This application is open to individual artists as well as collectives or curators curating multiple artists’ work. You may apply with a single short, a curated program of works, installation sketches, or whatever else you deem appropriate.
We are particularly interested in proposals that utilize the space creatively, including multi-channel exhibitions. We are looking for work that has not been exhibited before. There are no restrictions as to duration of works, though the nature of this opportunity does lend itself well to short-form works or curated-programs.
4th Wall artists/exhibitions are supported with a $250 honorarium/budget per-project, the use of our AV materials/supplies, volunteer labor-support from the Vox Collective during installation, inclusion within our seasonal brochures, and are also invited to pitch additional events (screenings, talks, performances) to support their exhibition, as well as to participate in our closing receptions / gallery talks.

Submissions should include: short description of 4th Wall proposal (single work or program of works), including links to the work you intend to show, biography of artist(s) and organizer(s), website links/social media handles, and anything else you deem appropriate – no attachments, please. There is no cost to apply or submit work to 4th Wall.
Deadline: December 8, 2021
The committee may also suggest pairing your work with an additional artist and will consider submitted work for stand-alone screening programs, particularly of longer-form work. While we will do our best to respond to each and every submission, we cannot guarantee a response to all emails received.
