The premiere screening of Black Circle Cinema, a new monthly 16mm film series in partnership with AUX Performance Space. In recognition of Earth Day, Black Circle Cinema is pleased to present two important films by two pioneers of land/environmental art. These two depictions of major works of earth art are just as stunning today as when they were first created.
Black Circle Cinema presents two epic and erotic depictions of raw sexuality, Christmas on Earth and Fuses are likely to still shock audiences 50 years on from their making. Both subjects of harsh criticism and censorship, these two films are prime examples of filmmaking in the era of sexual liberation.

A Very Long Engagement highlighted two Chicago-based artists (Claire Pentecost & Cauleen Smith, both members of the Community Cabinet) with whom Threewalls has had lasting and meaningful relationships. Included was artwork and publications produced by Pentecost and Smith for the occasion of their Threewalls SOLO exhibitions and/or residencies, as well as limited-edition artwork commissioned from both artists as part of the Community Supported Art – Chicago program.
Building a Wall Through My Father serves as a proposition for a sculpture that today remains unrealized. Operating as miniatures the works on view stand-in for a longer-term project in which Myrie apprentices with her father, a brick mason, documenting the construction/destruction of a 65-foot block wall across family property in Jamaica and the negotiation between a master/apprentice and father/daughter.
